You find yourself in a tavern

Countless D&D adventures begin with these six words, so why not a blog?  No, not a blog, a campaign, with each post an encounter, building into grandiose adventures set it in a world of geeking out, games, dice and table top miniatures.  Build a character, assemble your scale army and join in the tale that I create as we go.

Since I started DMing a 4e campaign last July, I have continually had thoughts and observations both from my own games and from what I read in the community online that I wanted to shared, but forum posting has it’s limits and is often just more noise in a sea of opinions, nearly unsearchable.  Those were the first stones, rolling down down a hillside.

In February I took an interest in WARMACHINE, always looking to expand my gaming repertoire. A large part of the hobby is the assembling and painting of the miniatures themselves.  I began posting images to my twitter account, and both gamers and non-gamers commented on them.  I wrote a lengthy post on the Privateer Press forums about the assembly of the Cygnar battlebox, only receiving a single comment before it was washed away down the ever growing forums.  Later I posted a question about painting tips with my warcaster, and the WARMACHINE community was more than generous with kind words and helpful tips.  Bigger stones rolling now, sections of earth releasing and sliding downhill.

Just a few days ago now, I returned from PAX East 2011.  Three days packed with nearly 70,000 gamers of all kinds, many of them tabletop gamers: D&D, WARMACHINE, Warhammer, Magic: The Gathering, and a hundred more games I had never heard of.  It’s an incredible feeling to be surrounded by thousands of friendly like-minded individuals, all there for a common purpose: to play games and have fun.  Everyone attendee I encountered was passionate about gaming, happy to be at PAX and happy to help out fellow attendees in any way.

The side of the mountain has crumbled into a full avalanche, the blog must be forged, the campaign begun, roll the initiatives and let’s get our armies deployed.
