Boomhowler and Company

Some of you may remember by assembly guide for the Boomhowlers on HCO over a year ago: Boomhowler and Company.  The time finally came to get them painted.  First thing, however, I needed to fill the unit out to max, but due to the repackaging and popularity of Boomies, I couldn’t find the two blisters I would need.  So a bits order was made from PP, which I think ended up cheaper than the blisters would have been, or pretty close anyway.

I went with a unique tartan pattern from the rest of my Trollbloods to show that the Boomhowlers were an independent entity.  The Milliput I used for basing painted up nicely and some Army Painter Jungle Tufts of grass finished off the urban war zone feel that I wanted.  As with Taryn I used the airbrush to basecoat these guys, but I did two colors.  I did the top halves in Trollblood Base and the bottom in Idrian Flesh.  A little tidying up with the brush to take care of the overspray and there were ready to get to work on.  Once again the airbrush was a huge time saver.  Even so painting a 10 man unit of medium based infantry is daunting and it took a while to get them all wrapped up.  Though as usual the instant I see the close up photos I noticed I didn’t repaint the inside of the gun barrels and there’s an extra smudge of silver on Boomhowlers axe blade and his fingers look sloppy.
